Forging forward, she's made a life for herself and attempted to move on, but its only when the band gets a new drummer that sparks begin to fly and the past that had been buried starts coming back.

Author J.C. Thompson tells a heartfelt story combining themes of loss and betrayal and juxtaposing them with a strong current of family, love and healing. Every character has a story and they mesh together in this short but enjoyable romance.

I have to be honest here and point out that, for me, this wasn't a great read. While I enjoyed the writing itself, some of the different segments of the story seemed somewhat disjointed from each other, like puzzle pieces that didn't quite fit. That said, taking the wider view, those imperfections seem to diminish in that, at no point was I even tempted to stop reading. Very early on I found myself becoming invested, particularly in the character of Hemingway herself, and just had to keep going.

A good enjoyable debut, and I look forward to seeing the author develop in the future.

This was a cute, short, fun read that really got to the point concerning characters, and the mail plot of the novel. A sweet read that includes main characters Hemingway, and Maxton. There were many supporting characters that really put the story into perspective from one person's point of view, and added to the overall feel of the story line. I am going to give this novel Four Bars. About three quarters of the way through this novel, it switched between two points of view, and I wasn't a fan of that. I like dual point of views, but it seemed very choppy to have happened that late in the book.

Hemingway only wants her life to look up. From the beginning of her life she has been nothing but an inconvenience to her mother. When the final straw hits home for Hemingway, she flees the scene and only ends up getting into worse trouble than she thought possible. And not the jail type of trouble; no, more emotional trouble than she had ever wanted. Losing something that is a part of you will take a toll on a person no matter the circumstances. Her brothers formed a band upon moving out of the old house that their drunk mother occupied - Hemingway's Hope, hoping that the band would be enough to help Hemingway reach her goals.

When the band goes through multiple drummers within a matter of a several years, the band seems to have found their niche with super hunk, Maxton. Otherwise known as Max, he is drawn to Hemingway like a magnet. The problem is that Hemingway wants nothing to do with him - no matter how strong the pull of their feelings are towards one another she doesn't want to get close to him, doesn't want to end up losing him like she did. As fate would have it, Hemingway and Max hit it off right away, and her life begins looking up for her.

A story of loss, gain, and having a second chance at love, this was a great read to pick up and devour in one day.
Too much concentration on just the sex. The editor needs to pay more attention. Otherwise was a good idea to help children whom have lost.
Keep me on the edge of my seat wanting more to read! So glad I waited for more books to come out!!!
A friend of mine told me about her friend that had written a book. She knew how much I loved these types of girly porn books that she told me to read it when I had the chance. The moment I started reading, I couldn't stop. Although the editing could of been way better, I really enjoyed the plot, characters and all the emotions I felt while reading this book. Cannot wait to read more by this author
Hemi & Max's love is a bit of a whirlwind. They meet & instantly *poof* they connect. I very much enjoyed their relationship, and I loved all the supporting characters. I had a little trouble with the flow of the story, however. There are some things, plot-wise, that I don't understand (she's in her 20's & still living w/ her abusive mother, altho her brothers who spent their childhood protecting her have their own apartment - WHY is she still living w/ this abusive woman? I don't feel that was every explained, or if so it wasn't a satisfactory explanation). And there are some interesting editing issues, but not terribly a lot.

Over all, I enjoyed the story & am looking forward to more stories involving the band! And seeing how they grow. )

Every page with declaration of love in this book, was sweet, powerful and so amazing.
Hemingway broke my heart with her story. Max pit it back together with his love. This book made me feel so many emotions, I wanted to live on Max'a arms.
First time that I read this author and I'm so in love with her words. The passion in this book, the heart in the words and the hope in the pages made me want to not finish this book.
I loved so much! I can't wait to read more of this author and yes this series, I loved the other characters. That was something, normally I just go for the principals, now I want to know each one of them.
