When I read the outline of "Disconnect" on Amazon I thought the story looked interesting so I obtained a copy. Set in 2034 Zachary Connor survives as a salvager in the Wastelands of the Underworld. He and his father live a hopeless life granted by a corrupt, power-hungry government that uses but otherwise ignores the populace. After finding an Intercom and talking to Rosa Kade a girl from the Overworld who captures his interest, Zachary's life aboard the Galilei, a Research Base near Jupiter suddenly begins to change and and he finds himself a part of a revolution that will alter the face of both worlds.
This is science fiction at its best with elements of action, mystery, and even romance in a compelling story that grips the reader from the first page to its surprise ending. The main characters are not only a contrast in personalities, but representative of the society they live in. Zachary is a loner who struggles to survive. He's resourceful, determined and brave when faced with challenges that could cost him his life. Rosa is the sheltered daughter of the ambassador to Assayer. Hiding her timidity when she first encounters Zachary she soon blossoms into a determined and willful young woman. Patch is one of the most imaginative of the writer`s creations; an old rusty robot with no legs and a forceful personality that continually gives Zackary advice. This is a story of betrayal, friendship, loss and love in a world plagued with discontent, despair and greed. Although I enjoyed the story I felt disconnected at times with the romantic involvement of the main characters but I still recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction and will look forward to reading Imran Siddiq`s next book

Disconnect Divided Worlds Trilogy Book One Mr Imran Siddiq 9781481968140 Books Reviews

The story feel like Romeo and Juliet in a way two people from different worlds falling in love with each other worth reading it.
Good dystopian fiction. The characters are good and like able even the non humans. The story is interesting and well worth a read, on to the next one
Imran has created a unique and interesting world in this scifi story. Disconnect is a relatively complex story that has been molded together quite nicely. The characters are interesting and the conflict in the story is interesting. Imran balances the action and and the love story nicely in a story that should appeal to a lot of readers of YA dystopian fiction.

This is a solid debut novel that was a lot of fun to read.
Frankly, I considered not finishing this book.
I felt the beginning to be extremely draggy up until somewhere in the middle when things start blowing up and Zachary Connor runs from trouble into trouble. Then things picked up a little bit and it started to get exciting and then... oh - next book.

But it ends at a good place, not like what Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston did to me with Earth Aflame.

Maybe I should give this another half-star.
I'm not one for the writing the longest review, and I dn't like to give up more then the author already has on what this book is about )

I really liked this book. It started off a little slow, But once it took off, it was a nonstop, very action packed adventure. I loved the way I really didn't no what was going to happen next, there were a few, "I did not see that coming", momments, so many thins suprised me, and I like that in a book. I look forward to the future works of Imran Siddiq,If this was his first book, then he's also on his way to becoming one of my favorite authors. If you like SciFi, I think you would like this book. Read it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome world building? Checked! Amazing plot twists? Checked! Intense and fast paced storyline? Checked, checked, checked!

Imran Siddiq's debut novel, Disconnect, offers the reader a wild ride. Zachery was a great character, in a world of YA which seems dominated by girl characters most of the time. He was strong, and though sometimes it was hard to understand his motivations, I totally have a soft spot for him.

Without giving too much away, I have to say that Disconnect is the beginning of a great trilogy, and I can't wait to read the next two books. Especially when the ending wasn't what I was expecting at all.
This book is from two of my favorite genres, science fiction and dystopia, and I was eager to read it. Like many science fiction novels, there's a lot of info given in a short amount of time to get the story moving. Unfortunately, there was so much involved in this one that I had a hard time envisioning the worlds that were described and in turn had a hard time keeping up with the story as a whole. I had to go back numerous times and reread sentences and paragraphs to try to get exactly what was being described.

I loved the use of bots and androids in this story. They fit perfectly into the history and helped pick up the story when a more neutral party was needed and gave the right amount of formality to get certain information to the characters and me, the reader.

The flow between the characters themselves were hit and miss. I just didn't get the chemistry between Rosa and Zachary. It just didn't click and meld like it should have. This created choppy dialogue and an awkwardness while reading.

I will be reading the next novels in the series to see where they take me. I'm not one for starting a series and leaving it hanging. I recommend this book to anyone who is big into science fiction. Science fiction and dystopia seem to go hand in hand with the basic mechanics. I find this book to give a good deal of both genres.
